TESOL, car drama, etc.
CA got here fast
missbunnygirl

Well, at the end of August, I finished my TESOL class (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and got my certificate - whoo-hoo! So the TESOL certificate, plus my BA in English (plus my blonde hair, green eyes, big boobs, and winning SMILE - thank goodness) all add up to mean that I am *highly* qualified to teach English overseas now. So Marty & I are looking at moving to Japan next year to teach English. (We HAD been talking about moving to either Kansas City, MO or Cincinnati, OH for him to go to graduate school, but we decided that grad school will always be there, and it's time to pursue *my* career field for awhile first.)

Here's a photo of my class - Shiho is missing because she's taking the picture:

Back row: PJ, Sam, Andrea, Susan, Jacqueline, Liam
Front row: Paul, Janet, me, Lizi, Julia, Johanna & Lucia

Now I'm enrolled in 2 classes here at Marty's community college. One is an online creative writing class, and the other is a Tuesday night screenwriting class. Both are good - they're helping me get the creative juices flowing again - after all those years as an accountant, I need a push to get back in the right direction. (I was an ENGLISH major after all!)

As far as jobs go - there are a few things I am looking at, but I'm in that tricky place where I make more on unemployment that I would probably working, so why not enjoy myself for awhile? (I'm sure I could make more if I went back to accounting, but I don't want to do that unless we are starving to death, and we're not - right now, anyway...) Mom is coming out to visit for Thanksgiving and we're taking her on her first trip to Disneyland - at the age of 70! So that'll be fun.

We had some drama with the car (again). The Kia - of course! Another case of my heart being bigger than my brain.... we let Marty's sister's boyfriend take it and make payments and well, long story short - he made only one payment and then kind of lost his mind and took off with it and headed for Oregon. (He said he was going to a job interview, but never went - just headed north on I-5 and kept on going. His son is up there with what was *supposed to be* his EX wife, but turns out they were never divorced...)

Long story short, he said he abandoned it in Corning a month ago, but he was in OR, and we didn't know who or what to believe. The police were basically like, "well it's not technically STOLEN since he had your permission to have it, so it's a civil matter..." (Thanks for nothing, you bastards!)

So this past weekend, Marty & I drove up towards Oregon to where he's living in a homeless shelter, but decided to stop in Corning to look around and see if we could find it. Well, he said he abandoned it at the Flying J truck stop, and so we drove around there, looking for any sign of it. We found it like a block away, in a tow yard, all filthy and covered in dust. We drove in and Marty's going, "HELLO? HELLO?" but there was no one there, and I said, "Screw this - it's OUR car, we HAVE the key - just get in it and drive away!" He was like, "We don't even know if it runs..." and I said, "TRY!" and so he got in, turned the key, and it started up just fine. He's all looking at me and I said, "DRIVE AWAY!" and so we did. We stole our own car, dude! In broad daylight, too. We drove it directly across the street, filled it up with gas, and headed south.

(Later, of course, Marty's all, "If I go to jail, it's your fault, you know!") Turns out it had a broken tie-rod (??? you know this all means nothing to me) but we managed to drive it all the way to Sunnyvale without incident, where it is now at the dealership getting repaired - hopefully under warranty. We'll have to go up and get it in a few weeks.

Stupid, stupid cursed car!

The beach, the beach, the beach, the beach! Yipppiiieee! (The beach is still a big deal to me - Wisconsin girl, remember? The OCEAN is amazing to me, no matter how many times I see it....) I'm going to walk along and look for shells and pretty rocks, and look at the water, and hold my sweetie's hand, and have a great day. PISMO Beach - a new one for me. Now if only Marty would wake up so we can go! (He works hard, he's tired - there, that's my answer to those who are thinking, "Well, why don't you just go wake his ass UP?")

Green tip of the day: Still paying your bills the old-fashioned way? Consider switching to electronic statements. If all American households received and paid their bills online, it would eliminate more than 800,000 tons of waste each year.
